Hi Yannick,

Sorry for the delay. I don't get notified about comments here and this is a re-post of the original i.e. it's just by accident that I noticed I had a comment here.

It's been a while so I forgot what I tried exactly. But usually, I run Maven from within my IDE (I think I had used both Eclipse and Intellij for this post with the same result - I think...).

In any case, I don't think it's the "wrong" or "right" approach to run Maven from within your IDE vs building and running an embedded servlet container from within your IDE. The point was that this sort of thing could happen and here's one possible way of troubleshooting it.

If I weren't experimenting with Intellij at the time I was writing the blog post I could tell you with 100% certainty that I was building and running the tomcat plugin of Maven within Eclipse run config (because that's how I always run a Maven project in Eclipse).

I might not have been running the Maven plugin if I was using Intellij. But in any case, I thought it might be interesting / good for future reference to document the process (was thinking that it might be a bit of a confusing blog post... but after the time investment I thought "might as well").

Cheers,

Justin
